Scottish Shortbread

5 oz Plain White Flour

1oz Custard Powder or Cornflour

4oz Margarine or Butter (Room Temperature)

2oz Caster Sugar


Pre heat the oven to 150 degrees.

Put all the ingredients in a baking bowl and knead by hand until it all combines.

Shape on a floured board into a long circular log shape, approx 1-2”

Cut into discs 1/2” thick and lay on an uncreased baking tray.

Press lightly with a fork to make a marking on the surface of each disc.

Bake for approx 45 mins or until golden.

Place on a wired tray and sift over with a sprinkling of caster sugar.

Allow shortbread to cool before placing in an airtight container for storage.
